The Terex® HyPower™ Hybrid is a Plug-In Hybrid PTO System which uses stored energy from the systems rechargeable batteries to power the non-propulsion functions of the vehicle. It provides reliable, quiet boom operation at the worksite, reducing fuel consumption by up to 1,200* gallons per truck per year!
- The HyPower™ system recharges from the electrical grid using a standard 110V—15 AMP outlet.
- Each HyPower™ system can operate on the jobsite for hours without starting the vehicle engine.
- The system can also recharge using the vehicle’s engine if necessary.
- The system may be retrofitted onto existing chassis.
- Easy to maintain, service and operate.
- Each Terex® HyPower™ system reduces vehicle emissions, decreases our dependence on foreign oil and creates high quality jobs in the United States. The system is manufactured in the United States and can be installed at more than 20 locations across the US.
- Options include
- Exportable power
- Cab climate control and other service functions.
Terex® HyPower systems can be configured to suit many applications:

Distribution Line Truck

Trouble Truck
With proper maintenance, the system batteries can provide up to 6 hours of typical worksite boom operation before requiring a recharge. System operators can recharge the batteries in several ways:
- Plug-In Mode: full system charge requires 6 hours of connection to a standard 110V outlet, and an additional 2 hours for battery optimization.
- Automatic Mode: when the batteries become sufficiently discharged, the engine will automatically power on for 5 minutes, engaging the PTO unit, which provides power to the motor/generator unit via the hydraulic pump. After generating a 15-minute power supply, the engine automatically powers down.
- Manual Mode: operator may run engine as desired to provide hydraulic power for boom and generator operation.
- Driving Mode: available only on medium-duty vehicles with lower hydraulic power demands, this mode uses the vehicle’s alternator to charge the system batteries.
The Terex® HyPower™ system can rapidly green existing fleets, without purchasing new vehicles.
- The HyPower™ system can be fitted to most existing chassis with a Terex® boom
- A fraction of the cost of new equipment
- Faster, more economical conversion
- Same savings + lower investment = Higher ROI
Unlike Drive Line hybrid systems, the Terex® HyPower™ system does not limit towing capacity.
- The HyPower™ system does not limit drivetrain torque, so towing capacity is not affected
- Driveline systems reduce torque and towing capacity – which means you may need an incremental tow vehicle to transport trailers to worksites for trucks equipped with driveline hybrid systems.
